Mask Parade
On Friday after school we went home and got our props for the mask parade. When we got to Montgomery Street we lined up in an orderly fashion. After we lined up we got given a tui each. We all waited for about half an hour till we started to walk, it was so fun walking with all of our friends. Nelson Central School was so awesome the singing was the best. At the prize giving was cool because Nelson Central School won two prizes and we won 1000 dollars. The mask parade was so wicked we reckon that the people got the message - THE FUTRE STARTS NOW!
NCS mask parade.
In the mask parade we wore leaf mask and wigs. We had to hold a tree on a stick and we had to hold a Tuis hand. The 5 year olds were the Tuis. At 5 o’clock it was judging time. Our theme was The Future Starts Now and we waited for ages before it started. Our legs were sore and I think it was 2 hours till the Mask Parade finished.
After the Mask Parade there was a carnival. Then we finally found out that we had won! YEAH!

We practised for the mask parade and sometimes we went around our front field one or two times. On Friday we walked halfway round town. We wore gold wigs, masks and black clothes and held trees. We walked for 45 minutes and we won first prize.

BeDazzled
On Tuesday Room 3 went to the museum to the Bedazzled exhibition. There were screeds of mirrors. There were different types of mirrors like concave and convex. When you look into a convex mirror you look the right way round. When you look in to a concave mirror you look upside down.

On Friday after school it was the mask parade. Our school took part in it. Our theme was The future starts now. There were birds, Fish, ducks etc in a “river” and trees beside the river. We sang the 3 R’s. It took part around town. Kahikatea syndicate had to wear dark clothing, leaf masks, and wigs and hold trees. At the end some people stayed for a bit and heard that we won the schools section and the overall section!
